MidiVid
Fade AVI

Allows you to fade in an AVI clip over a period of time and/or play it at different levels of transparency. Black pixels (color 0) can be removed in real time. The fade time, sound level and stereo placement can be controlled by note on velocity.

1. File
The AVI clip used for this plug-in. You can change it by clicking on "File".
2. Erase on Note Off
The clip is erased from the screen when you let go of the note. Otherwise the last frame played stays on screen until something else gets copied overtop of it.
3. Transparent Black
Every black pixel gets removed from each frame in real time before it gets copied to the screen. Since MidiVid paints each frame to the screen on top of the previous one, whatever was on screen will show up through the transparent parts of the current copied frame, and previous frames from the current playing movie will show up through the transparent parts of itself. Groovy.
4. Reset Playback each note
When you let go of the note, the clip is reset to play from the beginning. Otherwise, every time you hit the key the clip plays on from where it last stopped.
5. Looped playback
The clip playing will loop as long as the note is held down. Otherwise the clip will play and stop on the last frame even if the note is held down.
6. Animating Source
Normally a snapshot of the screen is taken at the beginning of a fade and the fade in is calculated over that image. When this box is checked the fade is achieved by taking a snapshot of the screen for every frame and calculating the fade over each successive image.
7. Velocity Fade TimeNormally the fade in time is fixed. When this box is checked, Note on velocity determines the time it takes for the fade to happen.
8. Audio parameters
Vol. The volume level of the audio portion of the clip will be determined by note on velocity (how hard you hit a key, measured on a scale of 0-127). Otherwise it is set to your current system volume.
Pan. The panning of the audio will vary according to velocity. 64 will center the audio. Higher velocity (65-127) will pan the sound to the right while lower velocity (63-1) will pan the sound to the left.
9. Fade envelope
Allows you to set the fade start and end transparency percentage and whether the clip fades in or out. You can also set the clip to remain semi transparent by leaving the second value to 50% or less. When "Velocity Fade Time" is checked, velocity affects how it takes to get from the first value to the second
